So, I’ve run a whopping 6 miles in the last week and all of the sudden I think I should just go ahead and register for a half marathon.

and I did.

oops.

Last week Chris & I ran a few (4) miles together, and then on Tuesday I ran a whopping 35 minutes on the treadmill.
When I was done running I got the bright idea to start looking at half-marathons.
Ok, fine. If I’m being honest, and I might as well be honest, i started looking at half-marathons last week.
I even printed out a Hal-Higdon beginner’s training plan.
I was thinking about signing up for the Halloween Halfathon, or possibly the Holiday Halfathon …. but then today I was browsing through the group I used to run with Facebook page, and I saw someone mention the Celebration half-marathon.
It’s in January, and it was only $59 .. SOLD.
But first I called Chris to make sure I had his blessing to register – bc, let’s be honest, things ain’t how they used to be. I have a tiny tot now, and I can’t just run off whenever I feel like it to do a run – running takes planning.

Like today, as soon as I got Paisley down for her 2nd nap, I ran into my room, threw on the closest running clothes, and ran downstairs to pound out 30 minutes on the treadmill. I figured Paisley would give me at least a 30 min nap.

I am LOL’ing at “pound out.” Puh-lease. What I’m doing is barely running.. I like to call it slogging. Since the display on my treadmill took a shit last year during a lightening storm, I have no clue how far or how fast I slogged. Slowly, and probably not far. I attempted to run at 6mph (10min/mile) but the cramp in my side laughed and said No. So I slogged at 5mph (12min/mile). I bumped it up to a whopping 5.3 for a part of my slog.. I’m not doing the math folks, feel free to do it yourselves, but I’m not.  I started out with a 5min walking warm up at 4mph (aka. crawling) then did a 6 min run/ 1 min walk combination twice. I was going to do it a 3rd time, but then said, what the hell, I’ll just run until I hit 30 min on the TM. Then I did a few minutes cool down. I think my total time was 35 minutes.

I picked a really bad time to try and start building my mileage. I mean, really? What kind of moron starts base building in July…. in Florida?

I hate the treadmill, I hate it even more with no display. EVEN THOUGH I ALWAYS COVERED UP THE DISPLAY WHEN IT WORKED. It’s different. Now I don’t even have the option of seeing my stats.. runners need stats.. geesh.

I looked on Craigslist for a new treadmill.. but have you seen this crap in the news about craigslist killers and such. Just yesterday I read some headline about someone getting shot at a gas station when they were meeting up with someone to buy something off of Craigslist. This world has gone slap crazy.. Plus, my treadmill is the bomb-diggity, except there is no display.. so, i guess it can’t get much worse than that… except if it was a manual treadmill, that would suck.

So, there you have it. I’m registered for my first post-partum half marathon.
