I think it’s true what they say, working out creates happy endorphins…
Saturday morning I got up at 4:45am, made breakfast, drank coffee, then headed out the door at 5:45..am. I had those first day of school nerves happening – It’s been a long time since I’ve been out at Starkey Park to run with the Striders. Paisley was somewhere around 10 months old, I think – I can’t remember now, but, it’s been a while. I wil
I was excited, though. Really excited to be headed back to my old stompin’ grounds, baby free. I love Paisley, of course, but at this point in our journey, I’m ready for some MOM time. Uninterrupted time. Time where I can get lost in the music, or in my thoughts without worrying about whether the bugs are getting Paisley; or how much longer is she going to last before the crying starts – I can listen to my music, not baby einstein or taylor swift. I do like Taylor Swift, but you can only listen to Shake it Off so many times on repeat before you start to get a liiiitle crazy. It is a catchy song though, love you tay tay.
I decided I would run 5 miles, because. why not? I ran 4 on Monday… 5 just sounded good. Plus, I didn’t drive 30 minutes to run 3 miles. No, I needed to make it worth my drive. At this point in my post partum running journey, I don’t have a pace goal. I just want to run, and feel happy doing it.
Now, that will change quickly, because I got left in the dust today, and that’s okay. I haven’t run consistently since 2012. CAN YOU BELIEVE THAT? I know myself, and I will not be “happy” until I’m running WITH (not behind) my friends again! I will get there, just like I did before –

As I sit here, listening to Sam Hunt, and relaxing, I’m feeling a bit like my old self. Paisley is asleep & Chris is downstairs working on the boat… It’s a good good day. (See, running…. it gets those good brain waves flowing)

I’m hesitant to try to make a running schedule for the upcoming week. I should, I really should. Every day is just a race against time, and a battle to get stuff done before nap time.
Okay. Let’s try it, why not? Right? What’s the worst that can happen?
Sunday- 3 miles
Monday – I work, in the office – so, I’ll probably get up early (530) and do a Chalean Extreme workout.
Tuesday- 4 miles? sounds good
Wednesday- let’s not kill myself this week, pilates, or weights.
Thursday – better throw a rest day in before I keel over & die.
Friday – 4 miles? Probably doable.
Saturday – Not sure, we are headed to the beach, so, maybe a short run. 3 miles?
That sounds like a good week – something to strive for.
