Coming back to a blog you haven’t seen in over 2 months is kind of like running into your ex-boyfriend whom you still kinda wanna get back together with.
It’s like, “Oh, hai… so, how are you?” “sooo……… wanna get back together?”
when we last spoke, I had made a return to the Striders & had run 4 miles.
that was the last time I made it out to Starkey, but definitely not the last time I ran.
I am actually {and surprisingly – to me at least} training for the Celebration Half Marathon. I made a new friend a few months ago, and we have become running buddies, and friends. She has almost the exact same age as Paisley. He is older than Paisley by 14 days!
Our training schedule isn’t perfect, but we are running trying to run at least 2x during the week & then a long run on Saturdays. I know that isn’t really ideal, we should be running probably 3-4x during the week, and a long run, but listen, trying to work around both of our schedules, and then our babies schedules & our husbands schedules… it gets hairy sometimes. We are doing the best we can to make it work.
This past week I think we only ran Thursday & Saturday. LOL. That is bad. We walked on Monday – I think I had to work on Monday, and by time I got home, and had time to get out of the house, we were in no mood to run – so we just went for a walk.
Tuesday we went to Pilates & then we lifted. Ouch, y’all. My little abs & arms were so sore for days!
Wednesday?? Hmm, what was Wednesday? Oh, I worked on Wednesday, not Monday. I have no idea what we did on Monday. Good grief, I should start writing this down.
Thursday we ran 4 miles
Friday we went to the Florida Aquarium – we met up with Jenny & Grady Man! The kids had a blast! I only had to snatch one kid by the arm – Listen, the kid was about to slam into Paisley’s stroller, so I had to grab his arm. Flame me if you want, but, no one was paying a dang bit of attention to all these unruly kids. The chaperone literally just stood there and watched. OMG. Don’t get me started.
Paisley & Grady Man
Saturday we ran 8 miles, with the BOBs. Ooooof. Instead of staying in our neighborhood, which is a death trap for pedestrians, and pretty difficult to get 8 miles in – we ventured to a nearby(ish) trail.
I’ve run here before, but couldn’t remember all the reasons I decided I would never go there again. Needless to say, I remembered pretty quickly why I hate that trail.
No shade. Wide open. No cover from the relentless wind, slight incline the whole return run. Kill me.
It was bad. Plus, 40+ of baby & stroller. No, just no. Trust me, taking the kids was not what we wanted to do, but the husbands were busy doing grown up crap, so it was either take babies, or don’t go.
Maybe we should have stayed home? JK… sort of.
I can’t upload the splits; my garmin 305 won’t connect to my computer AND I hit the lap button when I meant to hit the stop button and then I hit the stop button and forgot to restart, so I’m about 1/2 mile short of 8 miles. Whatever. That run was crap anyways.
I know girl, I feel the same way..
Moving on.. I just recently figured out GIFs.. So, you’ll just have to forgive the randomly placed GIF there.
Hopefully this week will be better. We have a plan. But, if we’re being honest, we had a plan for last week as well. Babies laugh in the face of plans..
Here is what I can remember of our plan:
Monday: 3 mi run
Tuesday: Pilates/Lift
Wednesday: Uh? rest. We are busy this day. I’m guessing an afternoon walk will be as good as it gets
Thursday: Oh. I have to work. Yeah. Probably nothing is happening this day.
Friday: 3-4 mi run
Saturday: 9 miles. eek!
FYI: When I say, “I have to work” that means I actually have to go into the office & see patients. I work every day, but I work from home & my schedule is more lenient when I’m home. On Thursdays I go to our 2nd office, which is an hour away, and we usually see a lot of patients in a short amount of time.
By time I get home my nerves are fried from traffic & dealing with patients – plus I usually have follow up work to do from the days patients. I don’t generally have a lot of time to do much else before dinner & bed time starts. Thursdays are not my favorite day.
